Amplified is the mens wear trend for spring/summer 2011 that I am going to focus on.
I need a subject or subjects to draw first hand. What does Amplified make you think of?
The colour palette is chosen, Neons, Brights, Pinks, Oranges and yellows contrasting with grey, navy and black.
I have started gathering interesting walls and Graffiti, any suggestions as to what else I could look at?
How do ideas form?
Our most recent project is on trends. Before our term ended I had started to like neon oranges, greens and pinks. I saw bright orange in the yarn store and started to pair it with dark grey, it created a great contrast. I then saw a girls work at a craft fair. She had used light grays along side neon green or orange. Originally I thought maybe this was what had put neon in my head but I used the yarn in my knitting before I saw her work. Where had my liking for these colors come from?
When at home over the holidays more and more neon popped up in magazines, accessories and I felt drawn to anything with a neon streak.
We Then got our project brief about trends. I did not even need to look at any other trends I knew neon was the one I want to explore.
but why?
My subconscious had obviously been drawn in by this neon obsession making me think it was my idea, but what had planted it there and how did it happen without me noticing?
Are we all forced to like something planted in our minds by our changing surroundings, where did this start and who decides what they will be?
why do our opinions change so readily? For example really disliking a type of music to really loving it.
Is it who we choose to socialise with or what we choose to look at that effects us?
Or is there a big bubble playing with our subconscious that controls our likes and dislikes?
